Information for owners of Canine's with Diabetes Mellitus

Sissy

Sissy was diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus March 13, 1997.

She passed away August 13, 1997.

Sissy's "dad", Mike, found her outside of his work in 1991. She had been hit by a car. We speculate she was about 3 years old then.

Her diagnosis came as a huge blow, as she was just like a child to us. We do not have children, and our pets mean the same to us as a child would anyone else. We had always feared the day she would pass away, and learning of her diabetes, brought that reality even closer.

I would like to thank everyone I have met on the internet, for their help and insight. I've found out that the internet is not a cold heartless place, there are people out there that do care.

Dakota

Dakota was diagnosed with
Diabetes Mellitus August 27, 1999

Dakota is a 10 year old Malamute owned by my parents... and an old playmate of Sissy's. On August 27, he lost the ability to use his back legs. After several tests, they found out he had Tick Fever from a tick bite a few days before. He was also diagnosed with Diabetes. After lots of dedication and medication, he is back to normal and stronger than ever. (Very challenging at shot time!)
