June 4, 1988 – August 6, 2001

Missie was almost 12 years old when diagnosed with diabetes.  

When Dr. B. told us that Missie had diabetes I was actually relieved.  I thought her kidneys were failing.  I knew that Diabetes could be managed, and her diabetes was well managed for the 19 months she lived with the disease. Missie still had her sight the day that we had to put her to sleep. Diabetes we could manage; cancer we couldn’t.

Diabetes is not a death sentence.
