Mon Ami
Mon Ami, for 15 years you were my close
companion always at my side with whom I talked and played. We had the greatest of times.
You "lived" to play fetch and catch. At age 11 you became diabetic, insulin
dependent. It was difficult for both of us to learn what was needed for your care
but we succeeded in that challenge. Two years after you were diagnosed, I was
diagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. At the beginning I was so weak and
depressed, I could hardly care for you, but I knew I had to continue on caring for my best
friend. In addition to my illness the last two years, life began to be more and more
difficult for you due to partial blindness and deafness. With all your many challenges,
you remained confident, happy, and ready to greet each day. As life began to worsen for
you, my illness began to improve. You stayed with me until you saw the sparkle come back
into my eyes. Mon Ami, forevermore in spirit, you will remain at my side and in my
heart, and you will always be my special "baby boy."
